From Nothing to Abundance
A friend of mine introduced me to the Consecration to St. Joseph. I completed the 33 days during my recovery and made the Consecration. Afterward, St. Joseph became my friend and constant companion alongside Mother Mary. When I don’t know what to say or do, St. Joseph always comes through in the simplest yet most powerful way.
I’ll never forget one specific occasion. I gathered with three people interested in the Consecration to St. Joseph. Our goal was to offer this grace to all our parishioners. I prepared an outline for the meeting, but didn’t end up needing it. After a short introduction, everyone shared how St. Joseph had influenced their lives. The sharing session lasted an hour, truly igniting the fire. The passion was alive in the rectory chapel.
I have a plan, but God often has a way of changing our lives for the better. In today’s gospel, the disciples faced a real challenge. Over 4000 people had been following Jesus for three days without any food. Jesus asked the disciples to provide for them. The small amount of fish and bread they had seemed insignificant, but for Jesus, it was enough. Everyone ate until they were full, and there were leftovers- enough for their journey home.
I chuckled as I left that meeting about the Consecration to St. Joseph. My little plan was like the few fish and loaves the disciples gave to Jesus. It was a start, but the Lord had an excellent finish.
Gospel Challenge:
No matter how small your contribution, even if it’s nothing, God can perform miracles that continually astonish us. We need not fear or worry when we offer our little to Jesus. You can do this right now. He instructs us, “You give them something to eat.” Trust Him and see what He will accomplish.
