You Are Sending Me? Really?
Are we ever ready to bring Jesus to others? Our world teaches us to strive for excellence and maintain order. We list our degrees and experience in a job description and hope to have the best interview to get the job.
There is so much pressure on the corporate ladder. Then comes the hiring, and now we must perform to impress. If we exceed our boss’s expectations, we hope to be named “Employee of the Year.”
Whew. We often invest significant energy and stress to find success. However, with Jesus, it’s different. His mindset is completely different and offers us peace. We don’t need to showcase our degrees or experience when we meet Jesus.
He instructs us to go in his name without any possessions. We are told to carry “no gold or silver, not even a few coppers for purses, no backpack for the journey or a suitcase full of clothes and shoes.” It’s comforting to realize that we don’t require worldly belongings to spread our faith!
Do you get His drift? Who or what is He urging us to trust? Should we rely on Him or on our own abilities, talents, and resources? We can utilize these, but we shouldn’t depend exclusively on them. They can be a grace that aids us in ministry, depending on our intention.
Our focus is not on offering ideas and philosophies about how to live well. Instead, we introduce people to a divine Person—our Savior and theirs—Jesus the Lord, whose divine presence is always with us.
Gospel Challenge:
He is the one who stays with us and guides us through every challenge. Let’s seriously examine our relationship with the Lord. Jesus invites us to share our faith as we are today. He embodies the truth of who we are now—our strength, hope, and salvation.
We bear His grace and healing in our words and actions when we show love, compassion, and forgiveness to others. They bear His Divine Presence. No other effort is required. Does this seem too good to be true or even impossible? Absolutely.
