Presence – How We Protect Ourselves
We dress for different occasions based on activity, like jeans for construction, a gown for surgery, or jerseys at a hockey game. Gardening clothes differ from sleepwear, and our attire reveals who we are at that moment.
When Jesus and his disciples landed, people immediately recognized Him. They laid the sick in the marketplaces, begging to touch His cloak’s tassel; as many as touched were healed.
During Holy Communion, Jesus clothes Himself in the appearance of bread and wine. In today’s gospel, the people immediately recognized Jesus, reminding us of the importance of acknowledging His Real Presence in the Consecrated Host. Let our outward appearance reflect this truth, serving as a gentle witness to others. After Holy Communion, keep Jesus close to you—within your body, mind, and soul—reverently embracing His humanity and Divinity.
Gospel Challenge:
Our dress, speech, and how we present ourselves are not just personal choices; they can also serve as a warm, healing, inspiring, and comforting presence of our Savior to others. If He can bring healing through a tassel on a robe, imagine the tremendous impact we can have as His brothers, sisters, friends, and followers. Let’s all aim to dress and carry ourselves in ways that genuinely reflect our faith and show respect to Jesus and others
